Central Laundry Plant Is Officially Certified with Green Mark Gold Rating

Systematic Holding is pleased to announce that the Central Laundry Plant (CLP) is officially certified with a Green Mark ENRB 2017 Gold rating.

CBM Solutions Pte Ltd was appointed to carry out the Green Mark Consultancy under the Existing Non-Residential Building (ENRB 2017) category. Among the adequate work amenities provided for its staff, CBM Solutions had identified several energy-saving solutions and environmentally-friendly designs adopted in CLP.

With Sustainability efforts in mind, the 91,000 sqft plant was retrofitted with state-of-the-art technology to re-integrate both linen and uniform operations under one roof.

 This results in:

  1. Marked reduction in water consumption with 250% savings as more than 3 Olympic Swimming Pool’s wastewater is being recycled.

  2. Leap in manpower productivity as operational processes were redefined whereby employees work under a high degree of automation.

In turn, increasing the plant’s operations capacity to process 30,000 pieces of Uniforms & Laundry and 80 tonnes of linens daily.

Learn more about the steps Systematic Holdings had taken to fulfil the requirements of the Green Mark Gold Rating:

Implementing a VRF System

The CLP uses a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system as a means of air-conditioning its premises. VRF condensing units were installed in the building, with a total cooling of 79.54 refrigerant tons and serve an air-conditioning area of 829.7m². The VRF system stands at an overall efficiency of 0.943kW/RT, within the acceptable performance range of the Green Mark Gold rating.

Using Motion Sensors to Conserve Energy

To conserve energy, motion sensors were installed to automatically control the lightings at stairwells and corridors. This negates the need for personnel to manually ensure any unused lights are turned off.

Recycling and Green-related Activities

Recycling Bins & Sites at the CLP

Systematic Holdings initiated Green and Recycling programs to involve its personnel in reducing and recycling of paper, plastic, and glass wastes. These activities are conducted and monitored by the management team, tabulating the amount of waste collected per month. This practice sets a precedent for the CLP to achieve its Green Mark standard in fulfilling its recycling criteria.

Spacious and Well-Ventilated Interiors

Spacious Ventilation Design at the Production Areas of the CLP

Using numerous windows, wide entrances and ceiling space - the CLP was designed to allow good cross-ventilation and hot air in the production areas to disperse effectively.  This design optimizes the cooling efforts inside by bringing more comfort for all occupants and reducing the amount of energy needed to power up air-conditioning units within the plant.

Natural Daylighting

There are other perks to having many windows, such as having more natural lighting. Production areas are illuminated with natural sunlight, providing occupants with a healthier working environment. Having well-lit areas reduces the amount of artificial lighting needed, in turn reducing electrical consumption significantly.
